Christmas Youth Presentation

This past Sunday, the youth of our parish presented this year's Christmas Program, "Greetings of the Season." They taught us about the origin of sending holiday greeting cards and greeted the congregation with "Merry Christmas" or "Christ is Born" in 17 different languages (including American Sign Language), and read their favorite Christmas cards.
 
Our youngest students then enacted a singing Christmas card as everyone sang "The First Noel."
 
Following the program, a lunch followed downstairs (with donations benefiting the IOCC), with a special visit from St. Nicholas! Special thanks to the Kronstein Family for once again sponsoring this festive lunch!
 
Another wonderful job by our church school students as we prepare for the Lord's Nativity!

Ladies Altar Society

On the third Sunday of Pascha, the Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearers, we honored the members of our Ladies Altar Society of the Holy Myrrhbearers, past and present, who strive to strengthen our parish through their dedication and work.
 
Memory eternal to those who now are with the risen Christ!

Protodeacon Peter Elevation

This morning, Archbishop Melchisedek elevated Deacon Peter to the rank of Protodeacon.

At its most recent meeting this past week, the Holy Synod of Bishops of our Orthodox Church in America approved Protodeacon Peter's elevation in recognition of his service to our national church. In addition to his duties here at Holy Ghost, the Archdiocese, and his fulltime secular job, he serves as Executive Secretary and Deacon to His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon. He is also the Council Manager of the All-American Council. Prior to settling in our parish he served as subdeacon and aide to Metropolitan Herman, of blessed memory.

May God grant Protodeacon Peter many years as he continues to serve Christ's vineyard.
